Do you know who killed Andre Carroll in 2019?
In the winter of 2019, a burst of gunfire on a Northeast Washington, D.C. street tragically cut short the life of Andre Carroll, a 26-year-old male. The incident unfolded on the evening of December 26th in the 1800 block of Corcoran Street, Northeast, where police responded to reports of gunshots around 9:36 p.m. Upon their arrival, officers discovered two men who had been shot.
Both victims were rushed to local hospitals for medical attention. While one of the men sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Carroll's wounds proved to be fatal. Despite medical efforts, Andre Carroll succumbed to his injuries the following day, on December 27, 2019. At the time of his death, official reports listed him as having no fixed address.
The investigation into Carroll's death continued for nearly two years. In November 2021, detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch announced a significant development in the case. On November 15, 2021, members of the Criminal Apprehension Unit located and arrested a suspect.
The individual taken into custody was identified as 24-year-old Robert Hunter of Largo, Maryland. Following his arrest, Hunter was transported to the Homicide Branch for processing. He was subsequently charged with second-degree murder while armed in connection with the shooting death of Andre Carroll.
