On May 11, 2022, in Holt, Alabama, authorities discovered the remains of 42-year-old Eric Shane Hatter and a woman named Shelli Wallace in the debris of a burned mobile home on Garber Street. Family members, unable to contact the residents for several days, visited the property and found the home had been destroyed by fire. Upon investigation, the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office and the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit determined that the deaths were the result of foul play.
