On November 22, 2022, 81-year-old Douglas Jude of Sylacauga, Alabama, was assaulted in his home while asleep. The assailant, identified as 26-year-old Christopher Grantham, had visited Jude's residence after leaving the Coosa Valley Medical Center Emergency Department. During the attack, Grantham inflicted severe injuries on Jude, stole his 2010 Honda Accord and cellphone, and fled the scene.
