On August 24, 2020, at approximately 1 a.m., 31-year-old Kyle Heath Nicholas of Hueytown, Alabama, was involved in a fatal single-vehicle accident on Lock 17 Road near Hurst Road, close to Rock Creek. The vehicle, driven by his wife, Kristin Nicholas, veered off the roadway and collided with a tree. Kyle was pronounced dead at the scene, while Kristin sustained injuries and was transported to UAB Hospital.
