On May 3, 2019, 42-year-old Andrew Wade "Andy" Kimbrel, a dedicated officer with the Vestavia Hills Police Department, was fatally shot in his Gardendale, Alabama, home. The incident occurred during a domestic dispute with his wife, Stephanie Nicole Keller. Authorities responded to a 911 call at the Woodbrook Apartments just before 11 p.m. on May 2, finding Kimbrel critically injured from a gunshot wound.
