On a September evening in 2014, a tragic event unfolded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, forever altering the lives of a local family. Amina Muhammad, a 26-year-old African-American woman, was standing and talking with a friend in the street when her life was cut short. The mother of two boys was remembered by her aunt as someone who loved to joke and spend the majority of her time with children.
On the evening of September 19th, at approximately 9:00 p.m., in the 2600 block of N.
50th Street, a vehicle, described by witnesses as a 4-door, green or black 1990s Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix, was seen approaching. The car stopped alongside Amina and her friend, and the driver began firing numerous shots in their direction. In what a community organizer described as a senseless act of violence, Amina was struck by multiple gunshots. She was rushed to Froedtert Hospital for medical attention but ultimately succumbed to her injuries during surgery.
The Milwaukee Police Department immediately began an investigation into the shooting. However, despite eyewitness accounts of the vehicle involved, the case grew cold over the years. As of the most recent available information, no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide of Amina Muhammad, and the case remains an unsolved tragedy for her family and the Milwaukee community.
