Do you know who killed Daitwon Young in 2004?
On the evening of February 6, 2004, 19-year-old Daitwon M.C. Young, Sr. was in his residence at the Crown Point Apartments in Lakewood, Washington. He was spending time with two friends, playing video games, before the night took a violent turn. His companions reported that they had fallen asleep in the living room. Their rest was shattered by a loud noise, which one of them described as someone kicking the door.
Following the initial disturbance, a voice was heard uttering, “What up now N…,” immediately followed by the sharp sound of a gunshot. One of the witnesses, a woman who had been asleep in the bedroom, was jolted awake by the loud 'pop.' When she came out, she discovered Young had been shot. He was found lying on his back near the rear sliding door, bleeding profusely from his wound. Though he was barely conscious, his injuries were so severe that he was unable to communicate what had transpired.
Despite the presence of two other people in the apartment, neither of them got a clear look at the individual who fired the fatal shot. The investigation into the shooting has remained active, though no definitive suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been made. Detectives have been unable to develop any viable leads that would point to the person or persons responsible for Daitwon Young's death.
Witnesses outside the apartment complex provided a sliver of a lead, reporting that an older model gray Ford Taurus with a lighter-colored door was seen speeding away from the parking lot shortly after the shooting. They also described seeing a Black male passenger in the car, estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old, with a beard and glasses. However, no one was able to identify the car's license plate number. The case remains an unsolved homicide.
