In the early morning hours of December 2, 2006, the life of 27-year-old African-American male Derrell Lamont Sanders was tragically cut short in Lakewood, Washington. Just before 1:00 a.m., police dispatch received a report of shots fired at the Best Nights Inn located at 9325 South Tacoma Way. Upon arrival, officers discovered Sanders lying in the parking lot with an apparent gunshot wound to his chest.
