A woman is found nude and strangled to death in a sand quarry
On April 16, 1989, the body of 47-year-old Barbara Jean Hagy was discovered in a remote area of Pugh Mountain in Smyth County, Virginia. Her beaten, nude body was found at the entrance to a sand quarry, with sand covering her head and neck. The cause of death was determined to be asphyxiation from blunt force trauma. Despite an initial investigation, her murder remained unsolved for several years.
