On October 15, 2013, 41-year-old Lamar Mathis was found dead inside a home on the 2600 block of West 24th Avenue in Denver, Colorado. The Denver Fire Department had responded to a structure fire at the residence and discovered Mathis's body. Investigators determined that the fire had been intentionally set, making the case an arson-related homicide. Mathis's death is believed to have occurred as a direct result of the fire.
