Lamar Mathis, a 41-year-old Black man, tragically lost his life on October 15, 2013, in what authorities have determined to be a case of arson and homicide. On that day, the Denver Fire Department responded to a house fire at 2614 W. 24th Avenue. Upon extinguishing the blaze, firefighters made the grim discovery of Mr. Mathis's body inside the home.
