Bertha Larsen Hughes, an 81-year-old resident of South Salt Lake, Utah, was brutally murdered in her home on March 18, 1982. She was last seen by neighbors the evening prior, looking out of her living room window. Early in the morning, neighbors reported hearing a commotion from her home. A visiting nurse later discovered her body, and investigators confirmed she had been beaten to death, with signs of forced entry into her home.
