Jyrae Demond Haley, aged 26, was fatally shot on February 20, 2007, in Houston, Texas. The incident took place at the 8600 block of South Course Drive around 7:30 p.m. Houston Police Department officers responded to the scene after Haley was discovered with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene, which was in the courtyard area near building 12 of the residential complex.
According to investigators, it appears that Haley was shot inside his apartment before attempting to leave the scene. He managed to exit the apartment but collapsed in the courtyard. His girlfriend, who was present at the time, informed officers that she believed the shooting had occurred inside the apartment.
