Cantu was in a car with friends after attending a gathering called "Slab Sunday," where people showcased their cars in a strip center parking lot. During the event, an altercation occurred, and Cantu's vehicle was pursued by multiple cars. A man in a silver Chevrolet Malibu fired shots, hitting Cantu, who later died at the scene. The shooter and others returned to the gathering afterward, and police are still seeking information to solve the case.
