On August 14, 2010, Prudencio Tellez, a 35-year-old man, was shot in what appeared to be a drive-by shooting while in the parking lot of an apartment complex located in the 6100 block of Gulf Freeway in southwest Houston. The incident occurred around 9 a.m., and Tellez, who was not a resident of the complex, was shot while standing outside. He was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries the following day, August 15, 2010.
