On the evening of November 28, 2010, 34-year-old Hispanic male Jose Reyes was fatally shot in San Antonio, Texas. While driving his red Ford Ranger pickup truck along Grissom Road near Misty Way, accompanied by his wife, Christina Rivera, and their two young daughters, another vehicle pulled alongside them and opened fire. Jose Reyes was struck six times and died at the scene. Christina Rivera sustained two gunshot wounds but survived, while their children were unharmed physically.
The family had been en route to a grocery store to purchase snacks and drinks for their children when the attack occurred. Christina Rivera recounted that the shooting happened so quickly she couldn't identify the assailants. She believed the attack was a case of mistaken identity, stating that Jose Reyes had no known enemies and they led a quiet life.
In the aftermath, the family offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, supplementing the $5,000 offered by Crime Stoppers. By 2012, they increased the total reward to $20,000, hoping it would encourage someone to come forward with information. Despite these efforts, the case remained unsolved, and no suspects had been identified or arrested as of the last available reports.
The San Antonio Police Department continued to seek assistance from the public, urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers at 224-STOP. The family remained hopeful that someone would eventually provide information to bring closure to the case.
