Isaac Jesus Orosco, a 20-year-old from San Antonio, Texas, was tragically shot and killed on July 28, 2016. The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Verdant at Westover Hills apartment complex, located in the 1500 block of NW Crossroads. Isaac had just returned home from dinner when a black SUV approached, and someone inside fired two shots at him, one of which struck him in the stomach. Despite being rushed to University Hospital, Isaac succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward.
The shooting happened around 9 p.m., and police reports suggest that Isaac had just parked in front of his mother’s apartment complex when the black SUV pulled up. His mother, Janie Edwards, vividly remembers that moment—Isaac knocked on the sliding door, and when she came out, she saw her son critically wounded. This painful memory still haunts her every day as she continues to seek justice for her only child. Over the years, she has turned her grief into advocacy by joining Moms Demand Action, an organization focused on raising awareness about gun violence.
Isaac was described by his family as having a kind heart, with aspirations to join the military and serve as a Marine. His life was tragically cut short before he could fulfill these dreams. In the years since his death, Janie Edwards has worked tirelessly to keep her son’s case alive, participating in gatherings at his gravesite to honor his memory and publicly appealing for information. Police and Crime Stoppers have continued to seek tips from the public, and there is still a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. The lack of justice has left his family without closure, making the loss even more painful.
Janie Edwards has stated that she believes she knows who might be responsible for her son’s murder and has shared this information with the authorities. Despite this, the case remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made. The San Antonio Police Department has appealed to the community to come forward with any details, promising anonymity for those who do so. Edwards remains steadfast in her pursuit of justice, emphasizing the importance of holding her son's killer accountable, both in a legal sense and, as she puts it, in the face of divine justice.
