On July 20, 2014, 18-year-old Martin Ortiz Jr. was found fatally shot near a swing set in a north Houston park. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced him dead. At the time of discovery, Ortiz was in the park after closing hours. The Houston Police Department (HPD) reported having no motive or witnesses to the killing. Authorities urged anyone with information to contact HPD homicide detectives or Crime Stoppers. citeturn0search0
