On August 20, 2014, Jonathan Estes, a 47-year-old prominent figure in Houston's art community, was fatally shot at his Kingspoint Community Art Lab, also known as "The Mullet," located at 10900 Kingspoint Road in southeast Houston. Estes, who served as the executive director of the Southern Artist Foundation, was well-known for his efforts in promoting graffiti and underground art in the city.
