Dixie Mendez, 24, was tragically killed on August 31, 2014, in Houston, Texas, during a drive-by shooting at a birthday party. The incident took place in the early hours of the morning on Hiram Springs when an unknown suspect carrying an AR-15 style rifle fired shots into the home. Mendez, who was sleeping in a back bedroom, was struck in the head and died at the scene. It was revealed that she had recently discovered she was pregnant. The shooter also fired at another house before fleeing.
The police have yet to identify the suspect, and Mendez’s family is pleading for anyone with information to come forward. The investigation is ongoing, with shell casings and bullet holes found throughout the scene.
