On August 8, 2017, Cornelius Williams, age 35, was fatally shot while driving in northeast Houston. The shooting took place around 7 p.m. near Moss Oaks Drive, where Williams was in his vehicle with his 6-year-old nephew when an unknown assailant opened fire, hitting him at least once. Williams, wounded, attempted to flee but ultimately crashed his car into a fire hydrant just a few blocks away.
