On January 15, 2016, Alvin Torres, a 16-year-old from Houston, Texas, was fatally shot while walking near 6200 Beverly Hill. At around 4:30 p.m., a white extended-cab pickup truck drove by Torres, and an unknown individual, described as a Hispanic male, fired multiple shots, striking Torres. He was rushed to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Surveillance footage captured Torres moments before the incident, showing the suspect vehicle driving by. Houston police subsequently released the footage, urging the public to help identify the vehicle, which had a license plate beginning with a "D" or an "O." Authorities have called for anyone with information to contact the Houston Police Department or Crime Stoppers to aid in solving the case.
Despite efforts to gather more information, the suspect and motive behind the shooting remained unclear. The killing left the community in shock, and the investigation continued, with hopes of identifying the assailant through witness reports and tips from the public.
