On July 4, 2016, during a Fourth of July celebration in Houston's Fourth Ward, 29-year-old Charles Jackson was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Robin Street, where approximately 100 people had gathered to watch fireworks. An argument escalated, leading to gunfire that resulted in the deaths of Jackson and two other men, identified as Jamal Dixon-Lackey, 26, and Darquarius Tucker.
