On September 13, 2016, 19-year-old Kendra Childs was fatally shot in her East Houston apartment, just a day before her 20th birthday. The incident occurred at the Uvalde Ranch apartments on South Lake Houston Parkway. According to reports, witnesses observed a black, newer-model Camaro with tinted windows drive by the apartment and fire multiple rounds into the second-story unit where Childs resided.
