On December 15, 2016, Shanna Vandewege, aged 36, and her three-month-old son, Diederik, were found dead in their Fort Worth, Texas, home. Both had their throats cut. Her husband, Craig Vandewege, called 911 that night, claiming that a burglar had broken in, ransacked the house, and killed his family. However, investigators soon dismissed the burglary claim as fabricated. Craig was later arrested for the murders and found guilty of capital murder, receiving a life sentence without parole.
