On a late summer day in Memphis, Tennessee, the life of Dayrelle Fate Coaty, a 36-year-old Black / African American man, was tragically cut short. On Saturday, August 29, 2009, officers from the Union Station precinct responded to a "man-down" call at the Belvedere Gardens Condominiums located at 109 N. Belvedere. Upon arrival, they discovered Coaty unresponsive. He was rushed to the Regional Medical Center in extremely critical condition but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
