On a warm Tuesday evening, shortly after 9:00 p.m. on July 17, 2012, the life of 28-year-old Shorish Faraj was tragically cut short in Nashville, Tennessee. He and his girlfriend had just arrived at her apartment at 200 Paragon Mills Road. As she was opening the door to her residence, with Faraj standing behind her, an unknown gunman approached them from behind and opened fire.
Both Faraj and his girlfriend were struck by the gunfire. Faraj sustained multiple gunshot wounds that proved to be fatal. In the chaotic moments that followed the shooting, a Black man was seen running from the scene. He reportedly fled to a silver Chevrolet Impala with tinted windows that was parked in the apartment complex's parking lot and quickly sped away.
Despite the presence of a witness and a description of the potential suspect and his vehicle, the case has remained unsolved for years. The Nashville Police Department's Cold Case Homicide Unit continues to seek information from the public regarding the murder of Shorish Faraj. To date, no arrests have been made, and the identity of the gunman who so suddenly ended a young man's life remains a mystery. The motive for the shooting has also never been publicly determined, leaving a grieving family and community with unanswered questions.
