A 14-year-old boy is shot in his sleep In the early morning hours of September 8, 2014, in Memphis, Tennessee, a 14-year-old African-American male named Ricardo Taylor was tragically killed while sleeping in his bed. The young boy, who was looking forward to starting another day of school, became the unintended victim of a violent act. Multiple gunshots were fired into his family's brick duplex on the 6000 block of Quince Road.
Two of these bullets penetrated the walls of his bedroom and struck him in the neck.
Ricardo was rushed by a private vehicle to Saint Francis Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead. Police have stated that Ricardo was an innocent bystander in the shooting. His mother described him as a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers who was asleep in preparation for school when his life was cut short.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the Memphis Police Department launched an investigation into Ricardo's death. Authorities questioned one individual in connection with the homicide; however, this person was later released due to a lack of evidence. To date, no arrests have been made in the case, and the investigation remains ongoing. Law enforcement has appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible for Ricardo Taylor's death.
