In the early morning hours of March 12, 2016, in the Orange Mound neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee, the life of sixteen-year-old D'Anthony Obee was tragically cut short. An African American male and a sophomore at East High School, D'Anthony was on Semmes Street at approximately 2 a.m. when two unidentified individuals appeared and began to chase him. The pursuit ended in gunfire, and D'Anthony was shot. He succumbed to his injuries two hours later.
