On the evening of December 26, 2017, Jimmy E. Kleinert, a 69-year-old male, arranged to meet with James O'Brien and Bobby V. Summers for what would be his final transaction. Kleinert, who was known to be carrying a significant amount of cash, between $4,000 and $7,000, got into a minivan around 5:00 p.m. to complete a drug deal. He was accompanied to the meeting by a woman named Steph Johnny Walters.
During the course of the transaction within the minivan, Kleinert was robbed of his
money and shot. The following morning, his body was discovered on the side of Bear Hollow Road. He had sustained a single gunshot wound.
The investigation into the death of Jimmy Kleinert led to the involvement of both James O'Brien and Bobby V. Summers. Summers was subsequently charged in connection with the murder. He later entered into a plea agreement and pleaded guilty to facilitation of first-degree premeditated murder. In exchange for his plea, he received an out-of-range sentence of twenty years. As part of this agreement, the remaining charges against him were dismissed. The judgment was officially entered on August 21, 2019. It was later noted in court documents that James O'Brien had passed away before Summers entered his guilty plea.
