On December 22, 1997, the body of Richard David Graham, a 49-year-old white male from Whiskeytown, California, was discovered near the Davis Gulch nature trail parking lot, approximately half a mile west of the Whiskeytown Dam on Kennedy Memorial Highway. A park maintenance worker found his body slumped over a berm in the early morning hours and promptly notified park dispatch. Rangers responded to the scene and confirmed the presence of the deceased.
