On November 2, 2015, the bodies of Cathy Scott, 60, her husband Mike Scott, 59, and their mothers, Violet Taylor, 82, and Barbara Scott, 80, were found in their home in Pendleton, South Carolina. All four victims had been brutally stabbed and shot. The crime scene showed signs of a violent attack, with Cathy reportedly retreating to her bedroom, where she sustained fatal injuries. Investigators believed the murders occurred the night before, on Halloween.
