On October 6, 2007, 15-year-old Daemel Gaskins was tragically killed in a shooting outside the Polaris Nightclub in North Philadelphia. The incident took place early on Saturday morning as the club was closing, and an estimated 150 people were gathered outside. Security personnel at the venue were attempting to disperse the crowd when a gunman opened fire with a 9mm semiautomatic weapon.
