In the early morning hours of a Saturday in October 2007, the area outside the Polaris Nightclub in North Philadelphia was teeming with activity. Inside, the night was winding down, and now, around 2 a.m., an estimated 150 people lingered in front of the club located at 400 N. Ninth Street. Bouncers were attempting to disperse the crowd when an argument broke out. The dispute escalated with horrific speed as a gunman armed with a 9mm semiautomatic weapon began firing into the throng of people.
