In the late hours of an April night in 2008, tragedy struck in the East Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia. Twenty-year-old Donte Jones was on Woodlawn Avenue, not far from his home on Jane Street, when his life was abruptly cut short. Police, responding to a call about a person with a gun at 10:41 p.m., discovered Jones lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his back.
