On August 27, 2008, Allen Austin, a 37-year-old African American man from Brownsville, Pennsylvania, was fatally shot outside the Comfort Inn & Suites located in the 2800 block of Banksville Road in Pittsburgh. The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. when Allen Austin and a 36-year-old male companion entered the hotel with two women to book a room.
