In the summer of 2012, tragedy struck a North Philadelphia community with the death of Terrence Gordon. On the afternoon of August 15th, police responded to a call at the Abbotsford Homes public housing complex in the East Falls neighborhood. There, on a sidewalk along Authority Terrace, they discovered 33-year-old Terrence Gordon, a Black male, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after he was found.
The incident shattered the relative calm of the neighborhood, leaving residents shaken. Gordon was a known figure in the community; one resident sadly noted that he was the father of her grandson, a personal connection that underscored the deep sense of loss. The investigation into Gordon's death was complicated by another shooting that occurred in the same complex merely ten hours later. In that incident, two men were injured when their car was riddled with bullets on Berkeley Drive, just a block away from where Gordon was killed.
