In the early morning hours of a November day, the life of Carlos A. Carrasquillo Jr., a 25-year-old Hispanic male from Philadelphia, was tragically cut short. On November 14, 2015, at approximately 2:00 a.m., police responded to a report of a shooting on the 2500 block of North 2nd Street. There, they found Carrasquillo lying in the street, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.
Officers quickly transported him to Temple University Hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead at 8:54 a.m. that morning.
Known to his loved ones as Carlito or Los, Carlos was born and raised in Philadelphia. He was a graduate of Edison High School and had earned an associate's degree in Computer Electronics from ITT Technical Institute, a field in which he had shown a keen interest from an early age. His family remembered him as a loving and caring brother, a fun-loving uncle, and a loyal friend. They described him as having a humble and quiet way, often referring to himself as “cool, calm and collected.”
In the days following the shooting, the Philadelphia Police Department identified Carrasquillo as one of several men killed in separate incidents over that weekend. While an arrest was made in one of the other cases, authorities did not publicly identify any suspects in connection with Carrasquillo's death. The investigation into his murder remains ongoing, and his case is listed on the Philadelphia Police Department's unsolved murders webpage. Law enforcement continues to ask for the public's assistance in bringing those responsible for the death of Carlos Carrasquillo to justice. To date, there have been no announced arrests or publicly named suspects in the case.
