On a warm holiday evening in Philadelphia, just before midnight on Sunday, July 3, 2016, the life of 16-year-old Asir Brown was tragically cut short. The young Black male was attending a backyard barbecue at his aunt's home on the 1800 block of South 31st Street, a gathering meant for celebration and camaraderie over the Fourth of July weekend. Friends and family were present as the night unfolded, unaware of the violence that was about to erupt.
