Shawn Cavender, a 39-year-old Black male from Pittsburgh, was shot on January 19, 2016, inside a home in the 100 block of Southern Avenue in Pittsburgh's Mount Washington neighborhood. Police said the shooting followed an argument shortly before 11 p.m., and the shooter fled after Cavender was wounded. He was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his lower extremities and taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital, where he later died.
