He was employed as a school bus driver and was actively pursuing a career as a tractor-trailer driver, having already obtained several commercial licenses. Beyond his professional aspirations, Boggs was also a dedicated boxer, training for an upcoming fight.
On what would be the last night of his life, August 6, 2016, Boggs was returning to his home on the 3400 block of Braddock Street in the Kensington neighborhood. It was just after midnight when the unthinkable happened. In the presence of two of his children and his 15-year-old sister, two unidentified men approached and opened fire. Boggs was shot multiple times and was found lying in the street. Philadelphia Police officers responded to the scene at approximately 12:10 a.m., where medics pronounced him dead.
