In the late afternoon of a summer day in Philadelphia, violence erupted at the corner of 18th and Wingohocking Streets in the Nicetown neighborhood, forever altering the lives of two families. On August 17, 2016, Basil Bellinger, a 21-year-old male from the city's West Oak Lane section, was gunned down in a brazen shooting that also left another man critically injured.
