In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Pittsburgh, the life of Monte Whitley, a 30-year-old Black man, came to a violent end. On July 16, 2017, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Lombard Street in the city's Crawford-Roberts section after reports of gunfire echoed through the neighborhood. Upon their arrival, they made a grim discovery; Whitley's body was found situated between two houses, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
