On the night of August 31, 1996, 17-year-old Alaijo Shaune Johnson was sitting on the front porch of a residence on NE Garfield Avenue in Portland, Oregon, talking to his girlfriend. While they were engaged in conversation, an unidentified person approached them from behind. Alaijo and his girlfriend heard a noise, and before they could react, the assailant opened fire, striking Alaijo multiple times. He was transported to the hospital but tragically died from his injuries.
