Do you know who killed 22 year old Cameron Brandice Ware? On the evening of October 12, 2003, a 22-year-old Black/African American male named Cameron Brandice Ware was fatally shot in front of his residence in the 5800 block of Northeast 18th Avenue in Portland, Oregon. The incident occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m. His mother, who was inside their home at the time, heard the sound of multiple gunshots.
Rushing to the porch, she discovered her son lying on the ground near his vehicle.
In the immediate aftermath, Cameron's mother witnessed a man standing near her son. She described him as a dark-complexioned male in his early twenties, approximately 5'3" tall with a medium build. He was reportedly wearing a tan hooded sweatshirt that had some type of blue, square shapes on it. Upon noticing her presence, the individual fled the scene, running south on Northeast 18th Avenue.
Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the location and transported Cameron to Emanuel Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy later confirmed that he had died from more than one gunshot wound. Neighbors in the vicinity also reported hearing the gunshots and told investigators they saw a medium-sized, black two-door vehicle, possibly a Toyota, speeding away from the area. The vehicle was seen traveling northbound on Northeast 17th Avenue and did not stop at the stop sign at Northeast Ainsworth. As of early 2004, the killing of Cameron Ware was among a number of unsolved homicides in Portland from the previous year. No arrests have been made in connection with his death.
