On July 22, 2005, Chauntee Lamont Johnson, a 28-year-old man, was shot and killed in the parking lot of Suns Market on SE Division Street in Portland, Oregon. According to witness reports, Johnson was seen speaking with two African-American men in a vehicle, described as a blue early 1990s Ford Escort. During the conversation, Johnson began backing away with his hands raised when the passenger of the vehicle shot him. The suspects fled the scene, heading south on SE 87th Avenue.
