Who killed 26 year old Eyo Nyong in 2005? On the evening of July 27, 2005, a 26-year-old African-American male named Eyo Nyong, who was also known by the nickname "Black," was standing in the vicinity of a bar's parking lot in the 3500 block of North Vancouver Avenue in Portland, Oregon. A well-known figure in the neighborhood, Nyong often visited this particular establishment. At approximately 9:50 p.m., two other African-American men approached him and they began a conversation.
To onlookers, the interaction appeared to be
between acquaintances, suggesting that Nyong was familiar with the two men. The conversation, however, took a fatal turn when one of the men suddenly produced a gun and fired. Nyong was struck in the head and collapsed to the ground, dying at the scene. The two suspects immediately fled the area, heading north on North Vancouver Avenue.
In the wake of the shooting, Eyo Nyong left behind his parents and five young children. The Portland Police Bureau investigated the homicide, but the case grew cold. To this day, no arrests have been made, and the identities of the two men who approached Nyong have not been publicly released.
