Do you know who murdered Frank? In the winter of 1973, a young man's visit to his hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, ended in a tragedy that remains a mystery decades later. Frank Paul Turner, a 23-year-old male, was back in Tulsa from his home in Sacramento, California, to spend time with friends and family. The night of February 22nd, however, took a dark and violent turn.
Late that evening, at approximately 10:40 pm, an unidentified man made a grim discovery behind an office building at the intersection of Frankfort
Avenue and Apache Street. He found the body of Frank Turner and quickly reported it to a nearby business. When police arrived, they determined that Turner had been shot twice, once in the left cheek and once in the neck.
The violence of that night may not have been isolated. Just a short time after Turner's body was found, and only two blocks away, another man was shot as he opened the door to his apartment. The assailant pistol-whipped the man, stole his wallet, and fled. While this man survived his injuries, investigators have never been able to definitively link the two shootings.
To this day, the murder of Frank Paul Turner remains an unsolved cold case. There have been no arrests made in connection with his death, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The Tulsa Police Department continues to seek information from anyone who might know what happened to the young man who was just visiting his old neighborhood.
