In the winter of 1988, concern grew for John Peter Mejlaender when a co-worker was unable to reach him for several days. On November 21st, that co-worker went to Mejlaender's apartment at 8311 E. 66th Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to check on him. Inside, a grim discovery was made; the 60-year-old man was found deceased.
