In the warm evening of July 18, 2009, a Hispanic male named Pedro Sanchez, age 40, found himself in the parking lot of the Plantation Apartments, located at 4700 S. Darlington in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was sitting inside his car, engaged in a conversation with another person that had stretched for about ten minutes. The night took a violent turn when four unknown individuals suddenly approached his vehicle with the intention of robbing him at gunpoint.
