Antonio Chavez, a 44-year-old Hispanic male, was spending the evening of July 9, 2015, at the Checkers Truck Stop on East Reno Avenue in Oklahoma City, a busy spot where trucks and travelers moved in and out under the summer sky. He was a long-haul truck driver from Phoenix, Arizona, passing through the city as part of his work on the road. Sometime that night, his routine stop turned deadly.
