On March 15, 1980, 58-year-old Marcellus Revere was found dead in his home on Dearborn Avenue in Dayton, Ohio. Revere was discovered by a relative who arrived at his house around 9:40 a.m. that Saturday morning. Authorities determined that he had been shot multiple times in the lower back with a small caliber handgun. The approximate time of death was just after midnight on March 15.
